How commissioners use research evidence

09 April 2018

National Institute for Health ResearchStudies undertaken by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) over the past five years have shown how evidence is being used by commissioners to improve practice.

The highlight includes studies into the behaviour of managers and the way in which commissioning organisations make sense of and use research information when making decisions.

When undertaking research it is hoped that the findings can be implemented in a useful way, however this can be prove to be challenging in the context decisions are being made. The findings provide some practical pointers for researchers to make their work more accessible and relevant to commissioners and managers.
