The impact of housing on health and wellbeing: RPU 123 April 2017 (open access)
Housing – suitable accommodation – is recognised by the Care Act 2014 as a fundamental component of wellbeing, and the general duty of a local authority to promote wellbeing includes specific reference to housing. Papers in this RPU highlight how poor quality, insecure, energy inefficient, and/or high cost housing can have different, but cumulative, impacts on people with vulnerabilities.
Whilst the research underlines how housing can be a difficult area for social workers to tackle, it also offers some practical suggestions.
