New briefing on delivery of Approved Mental Health Professional services
A briefing from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) has revealed the findings from a review of the way Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) services are being delivered across the country.
The work was carried out following a recommendation from the Crisis Care Concordat that the CQC and the Department of Health and Social Care should investigate the current monitoring of AMHP services.
The report found that most AMHPs recognised the value of the role, described good peer support and recognised the importance of good, integrated commissioning arrangements. The current challenges faced by AMHPs included concerns over the national reduction in bed supply and an inability to recruit and retain professionals.
