Are people with learning disabilities experiencing their full rights to inclusion in their communities?
An Inquiry by Social Workers into Evening Routines in Community Living Settings for Adults with Learning Disabilities looked into the quality of life of people with learning disabilities.
It focused on people’s evening routines, and whether people living in the community experienced independence at home in the evenings. The evidence suggests that institutionalised routines exist in these settings, with a particular association between an early evening meal time and the person being ready for or in bed.
The practice inquiry was carried out by Elaine James, Rob Mitchell (both City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council) and Mark Harvey (Hertfordshire Council).
