Dementia Action Week
21 May 2018
To support Dementia Action Week, Research in Practice for Adults (RiPfA) has made the latest Research and Policy Update on working effectively with people living with dementia open access until 31 May 2018.
The summaries of this edition of the Research and Policy Update include:
- The reasons for a delay between the first symptoms of dementia and seeking help
- The use of music in dementia support
- Person-centred care, dementia, and nursing homes
- The balance between risks and rights for people with dementia in nursing homes
To support professional development in this area, a new RiPfA workshop 'Working with people living with dementia' is now available for Partner organisations to use as part of their Tailored Support, or to independently commission from us. Aimed at practitioners and managers, the workshop explores the research evidence, resources and approaches that support positive engagement with dementia sufferers.
RiPfA has also developed a number of resources to support practitioners working with people living with dementia. These include a Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) commissioned website; featuring case studies, practice guidance and professional development materials. RiPfA has also produced a number of publications on topics including enablement in working with people living with dementia, and involving people living with dementia.
