About the study This paper reports on the evaluation of a multi-agency service for people with dementia that has joint-ownership by health services, social services and the voluntary sector. The service provides early identification and intervention in dementia and work alongside other local services.
Findings The evaluation found value in the establishment of services for dementia, which complement local mental health services for older people. Findings also suggest that such services can increase the numbers of people with early dementia assessed and provided with care. Service users appeared to improve in terms of quality of life and behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia.
Key messages
- Multi-agency services to enable the early intervention and treatment of people with dementia can be established.
