Dartington review on the future of adult social care

The Dartington review on the future of adult social care aims to offer an authoritative and evidence-based assessment of the development of adult social care between now and 2020. The review is in four parts: an overview report and three supplementary evidence reviews exploring international experiences; the social care workforce; and climate change and sustainability.

Evidence base for integrated care

The evidence base for integrated care is a practical web-based resource aimed at staff in health and social care who are dealing with the integration agenda on a daily basis. It provides easy access to clear summaries of the most relevant, good quality research evidence on health and social care integration published since 2000, and includes key messages for practice as well as signposting to the most useful literature on integrated working.

Publication series

In addition, research in practice for adults produces a number of publications series.  These are designed to provide readily accessible and authoritative summaries of the available evidence on key topics. They are available in hard copy for our Partners and are also available here on the website. They can be accessed through the menu on the left hand side of the screen or by following the links below.

OutLines

The OutLines series has been developed in recognition that busy practitioners and managers rarely have time to read lengthy research studies yet wish to stay well informed. OutLines provide short reviews of research evidence, each answering a key question related to current health and social care practice for adults. In answering the question authors summarise the range of available evidence and highlight the implications for practice.

Key Issues

The Key Issues series is designed to provide ready access to relevant policy, available evidence and emerging practice on topics of current importance. In contrast to the OutLines series, it addresses topics where the evidence base is currently less well-developed, but where practitioners and managers still need to access emerging evidence and information to help inform their practice.

Councillors' Briefings

Our EiP for Councillors series seeks to provide a ready reference document outlining the essential policy and the available evidence in respect of a number of core practice issues. The topics are selected in consultation with councillors at the annual Councillors and Trustees seminar or from suggestions throughout the year. Each briefing includes a list of key questions that councillors can pursue with their agency.

Evidence Stories

Evidence Stories offer short accounts designed to whet the appetite for evidence-informed practice. The first six stories focus on examples provided by Partner agencies of how evidence has been used in a practice development.

Evidence Clusters

Evidence Clusters are a practical resource for staff in research in practice for adults Partner agencies, aiming to provide accessible summaries of the most up-to-date, relevant evidence on key issues for policy and practice. They are only published on the research in practice for adults'  website, giving them the necessary flexibility to be updated as new evidence becomes available.

Multimedia

Alongside our printed publications, we also provide audio and visual materials for operational and strategic staff within our Partner agencies. These products are aimed at all those who wish to stay informed of developments and evidence on particular aspects of practice. They use real life experiences and offer an alternative to having to read summaries or reviews. Listen to the whole commentary or individual chapters and use the supporting materials to learn more.
