Think Tank, Birmingham

Are we ready to put people first?

research in practice for adults held a highly successful conference for Occupational Therapists in 2007. Attendees asked us to make this a regular event, so the follow up conference took place on 9 March in Birmingham.

'... Very useful; will use some of the contacts made today for use of OT in our project and induction programme for new OT who is starting next month..' (delegate after the event)

Come Reflect Learn Share Talk Experience Act

This event gave OTs and affiliated professionals in health and social care settings, managers, planners, commissioners and policy makers the opportunity to:

  • Find out about and reflect on the latest developments in the personalisation agenda
  • Explore what this meant for them and how they can take control of their future
  • Discuss and debate practice examples of personalisation in action
  • Share wisdom and experience to develop resources to help them in practice
  • Develop a network of support with OTs from around the country.

On the day, there were:

  • Speakers to give an overview of the research, policy and practice context of personalisation and ways of engaging with this
  • Interactive activities to explore and discuss ways of putting personalisation into practice, and to develop practice resources to help do this
  • Networking opportunities and
  • The launch of research in practice for adults’ Occupational Therapy forum.
