Below are details of the events research in practice for adults will be delivering with our Partner agencies. We have responded to feedback and developed an evidence-informed programme in consultation with Link Officers and Directors from across our network, and have linked our activities to the seven principles of the Government's Vision for Adult Social Care.
To ensure that we meet our Partners' changing needs and to increase the opportunities to take part we are offering a diverse range including remote access events, regional events and tailored events by request.

 

Delivering Supervision Under Pressure

These joint workshops examine the evidence-base for effective supervision, explore the barriers to doing this, and identify the enablers and alternatives to ensure that the needs of supervisees and supervisors are met. They are for operational managers, practitioners and senior managers who wish to explore practical evidence informed ways of gaining the time and space necessary to develop robust, effective practice.

 

Effectiveness of Safeguarding Training (Webinar)

How do you know your safeguarding adults training leads to improved practice? This webinar will look at the research around training transfer, strategies and tools that will increase the use of related learning in practice. It will be of interest to those involved in commissioning or providing learning and development, as well as practitioners and managers interested in safeguarding adults or effective training.

 

Councillors’ and Trustees’ Seminar

This interactive seminar is designed specifically for people leading strategic decision-making. This year the seminar looks at how those working in the adult services and children’s sector can learn from each other, and considers some of the growing evidence from practice and research.

 

Introduction to reason (Webinar)

This webinar will introduce reason the new research, evaluation and analysis support network set up at our Partners’ request to provide support for demonstrating the worth and the impact of the work done by adult and children’s services. This is for anyone who is interested in increasing their skills or knowledge around evaluation and demonstrating the value of their work.

 

Advocacy and Safeguarding (Webinar – Knowledge Exchange)

This webinar/ knowledge exchange will give a short introduction to the policy and research background about why advocacy and involving people who use services is important. It will provide ideas about how this can be done, gathering and sharing best practice examples. It will be of particular interest to safeguarding leads, social workers and managers.

 

Manifesto: Demonstrating the value of adult social work (Expert Knowledge Exchange)

We have developed a manifesto that calls for practitioners to demonstrate the value of adult social care through gathering evidence that highlights how EIP supports people to demonstrate the difference they make. At the Expert Knowledge Exchange we will discuss: the need for practitioners to demonstrate value our vision for how they can do this what is already happening who and how to engage in this work.

FACS, personalisation and the Equality Act (webinars – sharing learning from one to ones delivered in 2011-12)

We will be sharing work that we did for Bournemouth Council to help inform their thinking around eligibility criteria and service provision. We looked at three key areas – Fair Access to Care Services (FACS), personalisation and the Equality Act 2010. We will share some work we have done to support practitioners and budget holders to have conversations about service provision in terms of outcomes and cost. This is for anyone who is interested in increasing consistency and clarity around funding decisions for service users and carers.

 

Social Workers Workload (Telephone – Expert Knowledge Exchange)

This telephone knowledge exchange will look at some of the research messages around what service users and carers expect from a ‘good’ service, and the considerations that affect workload such as competence, complexity and the working environment. We will then ask participants to share their approaches and principles for determining workload, together with examples of what has worked or issues that they have encountered. This is for anyone who is reviewing, advising on or managing social workers’ workloads.

 

Multi-agency Working and Safeguarding (Webinar – Knowledge Exchange)
26 June 11am
This webinar will give a short introduction to the research around what helps and hinders multi-agency working, before focussing on sharing and gathering best practice examples from attendees. We would welcome wide participation from multi-agency colleagues, including from health, housing, police, independent and voluntary sector, as well as staff from adult social care.
